42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
This was one of the verse that took my attention during today's Sunday sermon. It's not because I enjoyed how people shunt away the Samaritan woman, and gave more attention to Jesus. (not that Jesus is a attention seeker)
In fact, I felt a spiritual movement through this verse. Before, the Samaritans made Jesus stay with them, Jesus was mentioning about the harvest.
‘One sows and another reaps'Through imagination, first I've imagine a physical approach. A group of missionary from a long time ago had sow the seed of the gospel to the heart of the people. As time passed, that seed had nurtured long enough and developed faith and belief in the people, so when the time comes, another group comes, once the message of salvation is preached again, the people would belief and turn to God. Hence, it would be the time to reap the harvest.
The second imagination and will be my strong emphasis, the spiritual approach. Once again, quoting from verse 42 of John 4.
now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the worldBetween the sowing and reaping, there lies the work of God in the heart of men. Once the gospel was heard initially, perhaps would want to hear, observe, touch and feel more about God. They will be the ones to hunger for God, to find and hear God for themselves. God is the one who will be doing the nurturing and growing, he will play a silent role, and in the end He will give the profit to His children.
Thus says Jesus:
"Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
Pete, perhaps I would stand on my faith, showing through my examples, standing on my principles and beliefs in school. Letting God to shine through my life.
