A very Obnoxious Parent, no... two!

You know what, Pete?

I wonder why most of the time good people have to suffer? This afternoon, during my school's CCA dismissal period, I volunteered to be the school's announcer to signal children to their parents' car. If you have been in my position, it wasn't an easy job when you only had two teachers with a gazillion cars waiting for you to go one by one and announce for them.

In the middle of it, I experienced two parents. One out of nowhere, called to me to announce cars who was blocking the area. He caught my attention, but in my mind, I know that announcing those fellow culprits who simply parked their cars are of no use. Based on many experiences, these people might be in the office areas settling some documents. In addition, I was so far away from the cars, hence I wouldn't want to go over to announce those cars. However, this parent wanted justice badly and He insisted strongly that I must announce them to go away before he move (Logically speaking, He was already in front of those cars). I did not take his words seriously, because I have other parents to go to and his demands at the time was unnecessary, yet he was still so unkind and he yelled and insisted that I must announce, but I yelled back, YES OKAY I WILL! Of course, systematically I know that is not useful to announce, so I quickly ran to another teacher who was at the area where those hindering cars were and told her what was happening. (I hope that she knew what to do and did it)

BUT WHAT REALLY GET ON MY NERVES WAS THIS SECOND PARENT! One unreasonable obnoxious self-righteous MAN! He called me and I went, His voice was gentle, but really really slow. I waited for him to finish telling me his sons' name, so I repeated the names in very a fast pace. Once after I've announced, he called to my attention the second time and I explained this very words: "You see Mikhail, Mikhael, Mikhaiel (I don't know how to write those pronounce) are different and My son is MIKHAIL!" I had a hard time catching up the pronunciation and repeated many times before him, I guess I was frustrated repeating so many times, and then he thought my body gestures was showing to him that I'm annoyed, and reprimanded me saying that he should be the one annoyed by my mistakes. This was when in my head wanted to get this man out of the car and give him a one big punch!

I was tired, and there's a lot of cars who were still waving at me to announce for them, there were still many grumpy parents like him who can't wait that I'm worried off, IF I WERE TO ANNOYED TO LEARN ONE CHILD'S NAME, I WOULDN'T HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO CALL OTHER CHILDREN! Other CHILDREN HAVE DIFFICULT NAMES TO PRONOUNCE and I still manage to call them to their parents.

Perhaps his child's name, Mikhail was often pronounce wrongly, that the child once cried to him his problems. I completely understand, but never demoralize a soul or an educator based on the Pronunciation of names especially during a hectic hour. However, if the man is offended by HIS EGO of his DARLING SON's name, I'm sorry, I need to do my job, I quickly learn what I can learn and then you can go home. (why the fuss of perfection? nobody pronounce MY FULL NAME CORRECT BEFORE! I never care, because I know you have your language culture and I have mine, so why not being open-minded, since the school is based heavily on IB learner profiles)

Dear parents, know your teachers, some of them (I indicate some because only some I noticed has the heart) are teachers who strive all their best to serve and provide, because they have a dream, that is to hope for a better world, a peaceful world.

Signing out,
Dave
