Beliefs and Values about ICT in the PYP

Being an inexperience teacher and a trainee at the same time was exhaustive. Moreover, I am taking the position as an IB ICT Teacher, without having any appropriate briefing and resources for the students beforehand was indeed a very challenging task for me.

Therefore, I had to do some reading on IB's publication on The Role of ICT in PYP.

ICT provides opportunities for the transformation of teaching and learning and enables students to investigate, create, communicate, collaborate, organize and be responsible for their own learning and actions.

Looking on this perspective, I do believe many students are learning at a reasonable speed than any old timers had in their days. In fact, kids are searching and hunger for information that interested them, for example: " How to change and applying mods in games (Minecraft, Warcraft, etc.), shooting and editing a video (The Youtube stars sensation), creating and writing a blog based on their feeling and what attracts them in the internet, as well as sharing gullible, exciting, worth-knowing news in the social media. I can describe a lot of more things, but as adults we knew that there are some things in the internet are best to keep that knowledge to ourselves.

However, guiding young kids to understand the responsibility and organize those knowledge would prove to be worth achieving. Perhaps, it would start as I learn to guide them personally through accessing reliable digital tools, establishing new ideas; giving opportunities to less fortunate individuals to express their learning as well.

As IB themselves said:

Inevitably, students' immersion in this world continually leads them to explore creative and innovative uses of emerging technologies beyond their functional applications, discovering new ways of engaging with content meaningfully and participating fully in today's world. 

It's true. I guess I myself have to be familiar to generate a procedure or a theory for these applications, so that my kids would have the proper stepping stone to a better exposure in their world.
