How I would use the Problem Solving Wheel

In order to have students to think actively in a social context, I would seize the opportunity at each lesson to use the problem solving wheel. If there is time for any circumstances, I would first demonstrate the wheel by asking students what they know about Information Technology. In which, I would expect students answering mostly of the social media, but I guess I should encourage them to gather some information about professional IT tools, they can either be software or hardware.

Although this generation is called the technology era, but I cannot assume that every student in the class are familiar with IT, so this would be the point where I draw out some technical questions to students, allowing them to think what are the skills they need to learn more about. They can identify skills like editing, typing and familiarize with all the free-resources available in the internet.

Next, this would be easy for students, because in IT, ideas could be generated by watching videos and reading published articles, as well as learning from pictures posted on Pinterest, Google, Youtube, or any available community forums. However, I would not be the one who suggested these ideas, but I would encourage them to find those websites by themselves.

When it comes to deciding the most exquisite ideas, perhaps I would prefer students to judge by the most appealing and illustrative ideas. However, it would prove to be difficult when choosing the best ideas in IT, for it is easy to mimic ideas from the internet. I guess I would cheer my students to demonstrate ideas that relates to their Central Idea.

If their ideas are worth implementing, then I would guide students to think how they would make their ideas into action. They would reflect the upcoming results, what they expect to see at the end and then execute their plan immediately.

After executing a plan, I would urge to compare their previous results and therefore improve their work.

It the work received an admirable praise, I would encourage my students to share their ideas either online or through presentation in school. They can also ask others to give opinion on their work, and would make further improvements in their future task.
At the end of each UI or lesson, I would desire my students to reflect what the skills they had obtained are, and what they could do to use the skills they have learned.
