During this week (Quarter 2, week 1), I took a lot
of effort in the designing of programmes plan. I referred to various sources
from UK’s QCA curriculum unit for the W classes. I went searching other
teacher’s self-made lesson plans on conducting and managing Windows Movie
Maker. Last but not least, I referred to the school’s own IB Unit planner for a
themed teaching in the usage of the kidblog. I have included as well “Common Sense’s”
teaching approach in facilitating and improving Research Skills on the
internet.
I was able to facilitate all of these resources
smoothly, however I wish I could have improve the way I facilitated Grade 4’s
Windows Movie Maker. I realized I had to be clear in my instructions and avoid
having many confusions as often I found students were confused with the
direction I wanted from them. I must make sure all students are well-prepared
in the future, so that I am able to avoid any wastage of time, and my students
could feel a less stressful and confused learning environment.
On the one hand, I encountered a lesson resource
was entirely not applicable to the level of my students. It was considered too
simple and students had already acquire the basic research skills. Therefore, I
had to immediately mediate that lesson into a higher level approach, of course
with a little guidance for my students. Quickly, I designed a themed-approach
from the Unit Planner and students’ enjoyed the learning as well as applying
their computer skills on the internet.
